The Lamplighter was a fine dining restaurant in Alberta. Coach Bear Bryant would take his team to Moon Winx and the Lamplighter on Friday nights before home football games. George Neely created a recipe book so that everyone could make his famous recipes at home.

Duncan Renaldo played the American television series "The Cisco Kid." The series ran from 1950 to 1956. The show was one of the first shows filmed in color. Apparently, he was at the West Alabama Fair in Alberta, signing autographs. Courtesy of Harry Lipson.

In 1965, Pizitz opened a store in Alberta across from the Leland Shopping Center. The first store was opened in Tuscaloosa in 1913. Unfortunately, both stores were permanently closed in 1981. Courtesy of Tuscaloosa News.
